FOrum de la Communauté Ultrarapide du plateau de Saclay

Announcement: FOCUS#5 will take place on May 26th, 2026

The conference will be at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides.

The preferred language for speakers is english. Around a program featuring 10 invited speakers, who will be announced soon, you will have the opportunity to discuss and/or present your work during a poster session.

This year, we will once again award a Best Poster Prize to one of our early-career colleagues, which will include an invited presentation at FOCUS#6 in 2027.

Objective

The goal of FOCUS is to federate the plateau de Saclay’s community (IP-Paris & Université Paris-Saclay) that work on scientific subjects dealing with (almost) ultrafast dynamics.

FOCUS is a local and convivial meeting opportunity, encouraging discussions and scientific encounters.

Context

The Saclay plateau is a major international player in time-resolved studies, from their underlying optical developments to the experimental and theoretical studies they allow. The field of research concerned extends from atto-physics, atto- and femto-chemistry, and femto-biology to multi-scale studies in all phases of matter. The range of developments and studies carried out is extremely vast and includes many laboratories and stakeholders in the region. The dynamism of theme 3 of the Labex PALM is proof of this, as well as the two Equipex (ATTOLab and Apollon) which were built in the 2010s.

This richness, resulting from the diversity of studies and sites, offers exceptional possibilities for transdisciplinary collaboration, provided that the members of the community know each other and exchange. Despite the electronic means of communication that have been put in place, the end of the Labex and Equipex programmes is altering the quality of these exchanges.

History

The first conference from FOCUS was on February 13th, 2023 at Institut Pascal (Bât 530, Rue André Rivière, 91400 Orsay) and gathered 113 conferencees.
